3 Reasons Why Bohol is the Perfect Destination to Have Your Wedding

A significant increase of Google searches about “Bohol beach wedding packages” proves that tropical weddings are becoming a thing. We can speculate that maybe the picturesque nature in the backdrop during the ceremony just adds to the romance of exchanging vows. But a curious question remains: why Bohol in particular?

24Seven investigates and here’s what we’ve found. Bohol is the perfect destination to have your wedding because of these three reasons:

1. If you want a traditional wedding, Bohol has some spectacular churches, many of which are declared national historical landmarks.

This is according to an article released by Lamudi Philippines. They’ve mentioned the La Purisima Concepcion de la Virgen Maria Parish which is a Neoclassical structure that was completed in 1727. Another beautiful historical church on their list is the St. Augustine Church, or Panglao Church, which is one of the oldest churches in Panglao.

2. Bohol is famous not only for its Chocolate Hills or its tarsiers, but also for its powdery stretches of white sand, mountainous terrains and rocky hills.

Positively Filipino had a run-down of some of the best tourist spots and attractions in Bohol that make the province ideal for weddings. Among the many attractions include the Loboc River Cruise — imagine going for a ride immediately after the ceremony — the hanging bamboo bridge, an array of museums, and of course, the tarsiers.

3. South Palms Resort in Bohol is no stranger to hosting beautiful picturesque weddings.

This holiday destination in Panglao, which offers affordable wedding packages in Bohol, is specifically mentioned by Gawin Blog as an ideal place for tying the knot. Imagine the salty ocean air, the ocean as your backdrop, and sand between your toes. What else could you want while exchanging vows?

You won’t run out of things to do in The City of Fun and Adventure. It’s just a matter of where to stay in Legazpi that would make the difference.

There are several tourist spots scattered all over the city, and choosing where to stay would be determinant of what sorts of activities are easily accessible. Whether you’re an adventure junkie looking for some energy packed activity, or just wanting to relax and escape the worries of the busy metropolis, Legazpi has a wide variety of things to do.

But whatever you decide to do, make sure you never miss any of these 5 activities below for a complete Bicol experience.

1. Sumlang Lake

You can’t say you’ve been to Legazpi if you haven’t had a good amount of time marveling at Mayon’s perfect cone shape. As the most popular tourist attraction in the city, you would want to have a good view of this stunning creation, and Sumlang Lake is the perfect spot for that.

Cradled near the foot of Mt. Mayon, this manmade lake gives you an unobstructed view of Legazpi’s major attractions. Take a bamboo raft ride towards the center of the lake and soak in all the beauty that Mayon has to offer. They also have paddleboards and kayaks for rent for those who want a more hands-on experience.

2. Mayon ATV

Can’t get enough of Mt. Mayon? We get the feeling. If staring at the scenic beauty of the volcano doesn’t do enough, get closer encounters with its perfection by going on an ATV adventure.

Considered as one of the must-do’s in every Legazpi city tour, this ATV tour gives you the adventure of your life. Learn the history of its nearby community by exploring Cagsawa Ruins and drive your way to the Mayon Lava Rocks which gives you a deeper glimpse of the aftermath of Mayon’s first eruption. Of course, don’t forget to breathe in the beautiful sights and scenery along the way.

3. Pasta Bicolandia

Let’s face it. We Filipinos love to eat. Food has been engraved as an integral part of our culture as evident to the numerous regional dishes that our provinces take pride in. Sure enough, Bicol has one of theirs, too.

Make sure to try Pasta Bicolandia which is a perfect explosion of goodness in your mouth. This dish is the result of the ingenious fusion of Italian flavors and Bicol’s well-loved spices that are surely a treat for one’s palate. Just imagine the perfect balance of creamy white pasta and a kick of chili. Drool-worthy, we know.

4. Embarcadero de Legazpi

A few meters away from the famous Legazpi Boulevard is Embarcadero de Legazpi. Ever since its establishment in the year 2009, it has been one of the go-to places of both tourists and locals alike.

One of the city’s most energetic and vibrant spots, Embarcadero de Legazpi gives you an opportunity to explore local shops and markets, or a variety of dining options. Plus, if you visit late in the afternoon, you also get to have a peek at the play of colors in the sky during the sunset at the boulevard.

5. Haplos ni Daragang Magayon

Daragang Magayon, which literally translates to “beautiful lady” has been believed to be the persona behind the majestic landscape. With the grandeur of Mayon dominating Albay’s landscape, it is expected for the locals of Bicol to believe in mystic things—and that includes otherworldly forms of healing.

Feel the healing touch of Mt. Mayon’s goddess through The Oriental Legazpi’s Haplos ni Daragang Magayon. Inspired by the traditional form of de-stressing we commonly know as hilot, this authentic massage is perfect to cap off the day of exploring the beauty of Legazpi.

These are but some of the many things you can choose to do and the options are near endless. Whatever you decide to explore, make sure you take them into consideration when you decide where to stay in Legazpi.

7 Tips On How To Be A Better Hotel Guest

Some hotel accommodations in Cancun do not come cheap and this is why guests feel the need to “maximize the experience” everytime they check in. While it’s true that as a guest, you are entitled to certain privileges during your stay, it’s still not an excuse to be the guest of housekeeping staff’s nightmares.
From travelandleisure.com
Hotel housekeepers have seen it all – those who party real hard and threw up all over the carpeting, guests who let animals in a pet-free accommodations, those who store used condoms in coffee pots – you get the idea. No matter how much you paid for your room, you should always exercise etiquette during your stay, even if you are not prone to rockstar-thrashing-the-room kind of behavior.

Here are some tips to be a housekeeping-friendly guest:
  • Clear the bed of clothes and bags before housekeeping makes your bed. They don’t want to touch personal stuff as much as possible, so you will make it easy for them to fix the bed when your stuff is placed on the desk or side chairs.
  • Clear the floor of shoes and other stuff as much as possible. Store your items in one area of the room or in your wardrobe. This will make it easier for housekeepers to vacuum the floor.
  • Place the stuff you want to dispose off in the garbage bins. Housekeepers will not move items that are not in the bins. So even if it’s obvious that your candy wrapper is meant to be trashed, they wouldn’t place it there themselves.
  • Dispose tea leaves properly. Put them in the garbage bin and don’t flush them down the toilet. Tea leaves can cause clogging.
  • Make good use of the towels. If you only used it once, you can use it again instead of getting a fresh one. Hang the used towel so the housekeeper will leave it alone. If you do want your towels changed, place them in the shower or bathtub.
  • Make good use of bathroom amenities. Refrain from opening multiple bars of soaps if one will suffice. Same goes for shampoo, body wash, and toothpaste. If you’re not planning to take the bars and bottles home, it’s better to not waste the free stuff, which can be used by other guests.
  • Sometimes you don’t really need your room to be cleaned, especially if you’re staying for just a night or two. Give the housekeeper a break by hanging the “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door, which signifies that you don’t require your room to be cleaned.
Of course, a hotel is only as good as the people who manage it. If you’re looking for a hotel in Isla Mujeres with excellent staff and great accommodations, look no further than Hotel Casa Maya. Located at Boulevard Kukulcan, Hotel Casa Maya boasts of elegant and homey rooms with magnificent views of the Caribbean, making it one of the best places to stay when in Cancun.

Space and comfort are very much evident in our accommodations in Cancun, which are equipped with amenities such as cable TV, Wi-Fi Internet access, private toilet and bath, safe, dressing room, and hair dryer. Some of the rooms have kitchens and dining area.

The stunning view of the ocean and fine beach sand serve as perfect backdrop to enjoy the stellar service from our bilingual staff. Enjoy the use of first class amenities including the swimming pool and jacuzzi, Beach Club for beach activities and water sports, and Lobby Bar for refreshing drinks and cocktails.

Hotel Casa Maya has several restaurants: Restaurante La Veranda for breakfast and international buffet; Las Brisas Restaurant for Mexican, international, and seafood dishes; Super Maya for delicatessen and coffee; and Coco Loco for appetizing drinks and snacks.

Coco Loco
This hotel in Cancun is known for being a tropical haven for leisure and business travelers, thanks to its wonderful location. Situated right by the beach in Cancun, Hotel Casa Maya is the perfect spot for those who want to be just a few steps away from the beach and also close to other places of interest in the area like a shopping mall, gaming facility, golf course, and dining and night life options.

5 Proudly Filipino Local Products and Where to Find Them in the City

With the proliferation of hotels in Muntinlupa, casinos in Pasay, and businesses in Makati, it is quite difficult to find something cultural in the metro—a common dilemma among people with foreign friends visiting the Philippines. While museums and parks allow for some historical learning, most people wouldn’t really go out on a limb and endure Manila traffic. Luckily, we’ve come to offer a solution. What better way is there to introduce our culture than through locally made proudly Filipino products? After all, Filipinos are branded to be generous and hospitable. Here’s a list of 5 native Filipino products and where you can find them in the city.

1. Native Décor

From wooden salad sets to home décor made of capiz, there’s a wide array of handcrafted Pinoy products to choose from. These products, like the ones showcased by Saffy Handicrafts, puts a spotlight on Filipinos’ skill in intricacies and attention to detail. Apart from promoting our heritage, they also help empower local artisans from all over the Philippines by giving them a platform to sell their products.

2. Wooden Bags and Accessories

If there’s one thing Filipinos are proud of, it’s the ability to make the most of the resources around us. Locally manufactured handbags made of acacia wood, pineapple and abaca fiber, pearls, and semi-precious gems are a validation to this ingenuity. Wooden slippers or what we call bakya have also evolved into modern forms, and can also be a good reflection of our history.

3. Hand-woven Grass and Buri Bags

A testament to Filipino resilience, Abre Linea bags came about from the destruction caused by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). It was initially launched as a project that aimed to assist people in various towns in Samar and Leyte, where the typhoon had the biggest impact. Woven with such sophistication and class, who would have thought that ticog grass and buri can be turned into such artful products?

4. Water Hyacinth Bags

What was once responsible for severe flooding is now the source of a community livelihood. These water lily bags are carefully crafted to bring forth export-quality products that are infused with our country’s beautiful and traditional weaves; a rather genius revival of a Filipino art for that has gone in remission with the modernization of the country.

5. Chocolate Coated Dried Mangoes

When we say world-class, we don’t only refer to talent; we also mean cuisine. Parallel to our rich culture is the richness of our palettes that is evident in the different dishes and delicacies each of our provinces take pride in. A product of innovation and creativity, these widely exported chocolate-coated dried mangoes have since been the top choice for airline snacks, diplomatic gifts, and even presidential flight treats.

Itching to get your hands on these products? You need not go far. These and a lot more are available at the Acacia Hotel Manila in Alabang, Muntinlupa, where they have a Souk, dedicated to promote innovative Filipino products while supporting the country’s marginalized communities.

Things to Do When You’ve Only Got 24 Hours to Explore Penang

I don’t know why you’ll give yourself only 24 hours to tour a whole island. Maybe you’re doing multiple city visits in a limited time or this is just a spontaneous trip. Whatever it is, it’s done. So how can you fully experience the perfect mix of the cosmopolitan and heritage in a place such as Penang?

Well, we’ve got a few ideas.

Choose the most ideal Penang accommodation

One of the first things you need to do is find a hotel with access to all the most important destinations in Penang. For instance, Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort is minutes away from restaurants, shopping centres, and heritage sites. You can’t afford to lose time commuting long distances.

Temple run

Picture from Picture from http://www.constructionplusasia.com/cheah-kongsi/

Start your tour early in the morning, and do it with temples. The reason being that it can get completely overcrowded and might not get to appreciate the architecture and the spiritual significance of the differing temples.

Make sure to visit Kapitan Keling Mosque, Penang Khoo Kongsi, and Kuan Yin Temple.

Memorials and ancestral mansions

From morning to mid-day, make your way to the memorial sites and the preserved mansions. Places like the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Peranakan Museum,  Fort Cornwallis, and the Queen Victoria Memorial.

Restaurants and the Clan Jetties

At mid-day, around 11:00 AM at least so it’s not exactly lunchtime, treat yourself to some local delights. The reason you want to grab lunch early is so you can get seats before the rush.  Visit Penang’s best hawker centres like New Lane Hawker Centre, Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, or the Long Beach Food Court.

Then just as the food centres are thick with people, you can jettison out of there and visit the Clan Jetties. Take a relaxing stroll and see rustic houses standing on stilts over water. There are at least 6 jetties you can visit here, named after the surnames of Chinese families who owned them before.

Shopping centres

By this time, it’s already evening, and you’re probably tired of touring. You can start draining your remaining adrenaline by shopping!

Make your way to Gurney Plaza Shopping Mall or Paragon Mall for your unique bargains.

Explore the Penang nightlife

Now that the day is drawing to an end, you can just chill at the local bars and pubs to get a dose of Penang’s nightlife. Head over to the Penang Upper Road and check out all the places lined along the street.

Drop by Slippery Senoritas, Three Sixty Rooftop Bar, or Soho Free House.

That’s your 24-hour itinerary! Make your Penang trip extra special when you take advantage of Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort's website exclusive offers!

Enjoy taking that odd trip!
